Sunset from the rock
The best seat at Bay Vista is a bench on the big rock at the front of the property, with the whole bay below. Take two drinks up at six and stay until the lights of Ocho Rios come on. Several proposals have happened here.
Dinner on the deck
A table for two under the tree, tropical flowers, candles, and a chef who serves and then disappears. Ask for the courtyard bar to be lit afterwards.
A waterfall, together
Climbing Dunn’s River Falls is done in a human chain, hand in hand. Go early. Or climb Konoko next door, quietly, without the chain.
The drive to Firefly
East along the coast to Noël Coward’s house above Port Maria, about 51 minutes, with a stop at James Bond Beach on the way back. Coward’s view from the terrace is one of the island’s great romantic clichés for a reason.
A morning that does not start
A floating breakfast in the pool, arranged the day before. A massage after it. The soaking tub in the Heliconia Suite with the balcony doors open, and a glorious sunrise if you are up for it. This is what the suite is for.
By Bay Vista Villa. Drive times were measured from the villa on Google Maps; prices and legal requirements change, so check before you travel.
